Do I have to sign up with multiple YLC group companies?
Just apply once – we’ll do the rest! As part of the YLC team, you’ll see pre-booked journey from all the YLC group family in the YLC drivers’ app. So you can accept more jobs, more often, at times that suit you, and across a wider area.
Can I work flexible hours?
As a YLC driver, we provide you with well-paying driving jobs across our areas of Surrey, Hampshire and Berkshire whether you want to work for a few hours during the day or at night. All customer journeys are booked and allocated through our cloud-based dispatch and tracking system. You choose when you want to work, and then select which journeys you want to drive from pre-booked jobs ready to go.
Can I earn more with Heathrow and Gatwick airport transfers?
Airport taxi transfers are probably the most lucrative driving jobs, especially if you are able to drive early in the morning or late at night. All airport transfers are pre-booked, so many customers travel with YLC every time they fly from Heathrow, Gatwick, City and Southampton airports. You may also be taking regular cruise passengers down the M3 to and from Southampton Cruise Terminals, as they enjoy the no-flight baggage weight limits!
I don’t have a Private Vehicle Hire licence. Can you help?
At YLC, we welcome drivers who already hold hackney carriage and/or local area PVH licences. If you don’t have either, we provide PVH Licence application support and other driver training – just ask for details at your interview.
Can I drive one of your electric vehicles?
Every YLC driver can access our 18+ electric vehicle pool including VW SUVs, Mercedes and BMW EVs, plus hybrid and fossil-fuel cars as well. By driving our all-electric vehicles for pre-booked journeys, you’ll gain first-hand experience of these lovely vehicles as you earn, on roads you already know well. Just bear in mind that with over 120+ YLC drivers and just 18 electric vehicles, you may not get an electric pool car every day.
How does the customer pay?
We offer our customers various way to pay to make it easier for them (and you!). Customers can pay either by card or Apple Pay using a hand-held wireless contactless unit you carry in your vehicle. As all journeys are pre-booked, they can also choose to pay in advance via the app. All customer electronic payments go direct to Your Local Car.
How do I get paid?
When you join as a YLC driver, we agree a pre-agreed rate/percentage for each job. Our digital booking system keeps an accurate record of all your fares, and provides a full billing breakdown for you. We then pay you weekly direct into your bank account.
