Ash Ranges is a large area of open dry heathland popular with walkers, which is managed by the Surrey Wildlife Trust on behalf of the Ministry of Defence. Ash Ranges is an important reserve for wildlife, including rare sand lizards, smooth snakes and heath tiger beetles.
It’s also an active firing range, so the ‘range danger area’ is closed when the red flags/red lamps are displayed, or when access gates are locked. There’s no car park, and access is only on foot via Henley Park Range.
