All electric taxi travel with YLC

So far, we have a vehicle pool of 18 luxury electric vehicles that all drivers across the YLC group can use. We have a ‘one out, one in’ policy of replacing existing pool diesel cars with EVs, and every new vehicle YLC buys in the future will be fully electric.

Our drivers can either use their own vehicles or drive one of our “pool” vehicles, which include all electric and hybrid. Our drivers very much enjoy experiencing the benefits of driving an electric vehicle on roads and routes they know well. Also, when they choose to drive one of the electric vehicles in our pool, they can leave their own diesel or petrol vehicle at home, swapping their own car’s emission for zero electric emissions.

Hand on heart, yes it does. Our all-electric vehicles must be pre-booked in advance via the app. We then reserve one of our top marque electric SUV taxis, BMW exec car, or spacious exec vans just for you at your chosen time. So, you pay a little extra but it is so worth it for the exceptionally smooth, quiet and luxurious journey that proves your own eco-friendly ethos.

Thanks to our investment both in vehicles and digital tracking and dispatch system linked to the app, all electric taxi travel is now cost-effective, and energy efficient. It also fits with our ethics of emissions-free journeys for customers in our local area, helping preserve air quality. We’ve also shown that by pre-booking electric taxis in advance, the app and dispatch system cuts out “dead” miles (when drivers return back to base with an empty vehicles), greatly improving efficiency.

Out on the road, EVs produce zero tailpipe carbon emissions. However, in their manufacturing, every vehicle creates its own carbon footprint from the materials it’s made from, and the energy needed to physically make it. However, after that, it’s zero all the way, unlike a fossil-fuel vehicle which produces its own emissions every time it is started up and driven.

So, when we take customers to where they need to go in one of our EVs, that journey helps to offset the electric car or van’s initial manufacturing carbon footprint. The more we drive them, the more we offset that initial footprint. Our ultimate goal is to have all our pool vehicles as all electric, demonstrating the effectiveness and efficiency of carbon-free travel throughout our community and further afield.
